Dear Journal,
It is the 14th of October in the year 1940 and there is no doubt in my mind that this year's coming election is going to have many difficult decisions for me. If I do decide to run for reelection, I would be running for an unprecedented third term. I would be breaking the usual two term presidency set by George Washington. However, I feel that it is important that I need to stay in office during the nation’s time of need. I would be able to guide our country and be able to keep them away from the war happening in Europe (Katers 1). I know that my opponent, Wendell Willkie, has many of the same views as I do. I am aware that he and I both believe in aiding Britain and we both promise to keep the nation out of war (Jeffries 1). Since there is not much difference between me and Willkies, I am hoping that the public elects me, because they know how I think and how I attack problems and what my tactics are (Danzer et al. 551).
Dear Journal,
It is the 12th of December in the year 1940, and I am happy to say that I have won the election. However, this term, I did not win by a landslide, this term was close. I was very nervous, but I managed to win with only 55 percent of the vote cast (Danzer et al. 551). The popular votes between myself and Willkie were too close for comfort. However, I was able to pull ahead with the electoral votes. I won the electoral votes with 449 for myself and only 89 for Willkie (Katers 1). Hopefully I will be able to lead our country with confidence.
